Abstract

In power system transmission line, power electronics offers a huge impact on Power Quality (PQ) issues such as voltage sag, voltage swell, voltage flickering and harmonics generation control. In conventional active filter systems, many power quality concerns are difficult to handle. Z-DVR is introduced for improvement of PQ problems in order to increase both the source and load side performance. The issue of reduction in voltage has become a major concern for power quality due to the increased usage of voltage-sensitive technology. DVR is used to resolve concerns relating to energy quality, uneven voltage supply and harmonic distortion. An efficient Z-DVR is described in this paper with its control technique.

Methods:

Study and design of 3ϕ Z-DVR inverter to compensates the voltage sag that occurs in transmission with passive components by using optimization tuning method (Genetic Algorithm (GA) tuned PID controller).

Result:

The existing methods has following drawbacks such as high dc link settling time, and high in harmonics and it can neglected with the help of using PLL based GA tuned PID controller for mitigates the above issues. The topology provided has developed to minimise harmonics of the device, accounting for 20% drop in voltage, cost-effectiveness and effectiveness. The harmonics in the system shown are 3.98% compared to the existing one.

Conclusion:

Furthermore the parameters in existing including THD value, voltage sag, and components reduction with GA tuned PID controller are compared. In the contrast with existing THD, and %voltage sag compensation is better than the current method. By means of the simulation results using MATLAB/Simulink, the output of the proposed technique is validated.
